Obituary

SPRINGFIELD - Theodore "Teddy" Brooks, Jr., 83, of the Pine Point section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, January 21, 2021. He passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Washington, DC on April 7, 1937, a beloved son of the late Theodore S. Brooks, Sr. and Mary E. (Gooding) Brooks. He was raised in Stafford, Virginia and graduated from Stafford High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force and attained the rank of Airman Second Class. He moved to Springfield in 1958 where he lived the remainder of his life. He was employed as a Service Technician for 38 years at the Sears and Roebuck Company in Springfield. He was a member of the East Springfield American Legion Post 420 and a member of the former Adriatic Club in Springfield where he enjoyed many years of making children and their families happy at their annual Christmas Parties as Santa Claus. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and soul mate, Mary J. (Comeau) Brooks who was Called Home on February 12, 2011. They were married on May 5, 1962 at the Basilica of Saint Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr in Chicopee and were blessed with over 48 years of happiness together. He leaves his two loving daughters, Celina A. McMahon of West Springfield and Christine A. Brooks of Springfield; his dear brother-in-law, Stephen J. Collins, Jr. of Springfield; his sister-in-law, Joan Comeau of Webster; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his loving son-in-law, James J. McMahon III who was Called Home on November 12, 2020; and his brother, Conrad R. "Sonny" Brooks. His family will receive friends on Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. which will be followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 12:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre - Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. Please note that masks are required, social distancing must be observed and funeral home capacity is limited due to state regulations. His Committal Service with United States Air Force Military Honors will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
