Obituary



John “Jack” F. Feeley, lifelong resident of Medford, passed away on Wednesday, January 20th. He was 96. Born and raised in Boston, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Sarah (O'Day) Feeley. Jack proudly entered the United States Navy Air Corps in the winter of 1943, stationed on the island of Tinian during WWII. He was honorably discharged in the spring of 1946. Jack was awarded the Asiatic Pacific 2 Stars Medal, The Victory Medal and the Navy Air 2 Star Medal.

Jack shared many memories about the time he spent in the Navy Air Corps. One particular memory was when he was in a PB4Y-2 Privateer plane flying over the Pacific Ocean with his crewmates and their K9 companion Turbo, when it went down into the water below, thankfully Jack, his crewmates and Turbo were rescued.

Jack enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He attended all of their sporting events and loved cheering them on from the sidelines. He was a huge BC Football fanatic. Jack was a strong supporter of Medford’s sport teams and was later inducted into the Mustang Hall of Fame. He loved to travel anywhere and everywhere; all you had to do was give him a quick phone call and his bag was packed and ready to go. Jack was a wonderful husband, a loving father, the best Grampy and Great Grampy. He will be greatly missed by all.

Jack was the beloved husband of the late Geraldine (Griffin) Feeley. He was the devoted father of Geraldine Powers and her husband Robert Curtice of Burlington, Charles Feeley and his wife Mary Jo of Medford, the late John Feeley and his surviving wife Kathy of Medford, and the late Kevin Feeley. He was the loving Grampy of Kerri and Mark Powers, Jason Feeley, Michael Feeley and his wife Nicole, Melissa Feeley and her wife Victoria Proulx, Jeanine, John, David, Christine Feeley and Coreen Cordeiro and her husband Steve. He was the Great Grampy of 6. He was the dear brother of Pat DeYoung and her husband Jerry, and the late Catherine Higgins, Anna Parks, Robert, Charles "Dub" and Paul Feeley. Jack is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford, on Friday, January 29th, from 9 to 10:30 AM, followed by a funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 AM, with social distancing protocols. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Late Veteran of the United States Navy Air Corps, serving during WWII.
