Obituary

John R. Marrano passed away at the Lahey Clinic on Sunday, January 17th. He was 90 years old.

Born and raised in Cambridge, he was the son of the late John and Freda (Charlton) Marrano. An army veteran of the Korean War, John earned two Bronze Service Stars for his service in combat. Once discharged and settled into family life, John and his wife Joan settled in Medford to raise their family. He served for over 30 years on the Medford Fire Department., achieving the rank of Lieutenant. He served primarily on Engines Five and Three. He was proud of his service as a firefighter and made many strong and lasting friendships among his colleagues. John was a dedicated family man. He and Joan enjoyed spending winters in Naples, Florida for over ten years. He took up golf and enjoyed playing. Most of all he was happy spending time with his family and enjoying life.

The beloved husband of the late Joan (Cabral) Marrano, he was a devoted father to Bob Marrano and his wife Elise of Newburyport, Jack Marrano and his wife Susan of Framingham, and Jim Marrano and his wife Susan of Charlestown. He is also survived by seven loving grandchildren and seven loving great-grandchildren.
