Obituary

Westborough: Dorothy (Enwright) Matthews (87), formerly of 545 Salisbury Street, Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 22,2021 in Westborough Healthcare. She leaves a daughter Karen and her husband Matthew St.Thomas of Sterling and three grandchildrenAnthony J. Capuano, Matthew J. St.Thomas and Emily E. St.Thomas of Sterling. She also leaves a niece, Robin Gilfoy of Worcester, and a nephew, Gary E. Gilfoy and his family of Oregon. She was predeceased by her husband of 27 years, Arthur Matthews. She was also predeceased by three sisters, Ethel M. Gilfoy, Anna Enwright, and Gloria Enwright all of Worcester, and her only brother, 1st Sgt. Thomas J. Enwright, U.S. Army Ret., also of Worcester.


Dorothy was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Thomas J. Enwright and Sigrid (Carlson) Enwright. She graduated from Commerce High School and attended Clark University. She started her own business which provided secretarial services to local attorneys and companies. When she was younger, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Worcester. Dorothy was extremely artistic and sold many paintings over the years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her grandson, Anthony who was her caretaker for many years.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester, MA. Funeral services are private; there are no visiting hours. Dorothy will be interred next to her family at All Faiths Cemetery in Worcester.
