Emma J. Catalano 97, of Franklin, passed away, peacefully, from complications of Covid-19, Thursday January 21, 2021 at Briarwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Needham.
Born August 20, 1923, in Norfolk, a daughter of the late Angelo T. and Maria (Lamagna) Catalano, she was a longtime resident of Franklin.
She was raised in Norfolk and was a graduate of Walpole High School. Emma continued her education at Fisher Jr. College and received her associate’s degree. Emma was the Assistant Treasurer for Dean Bank, Franklin and for Medway Co-Operative Bank now Charles River Bank and was also the former secretary to the administrator of Norwood Hospital.
Emma served on the Board of Directors and held the position of the Clerk of the Corporation for Medway Co-Operative Bank, was the Treasurer at the Charles River Pollution Control Facility in Medway, was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Franklin, the Catholic Women’s Club and the Quattro Eroi Lodge #1414 Sons of Italy, Franklin.
Emma is survived by 4 nephews, Herbert F. Catalano of N. Attleboro, Paul G. Catalano of N. Attleboro, Thomas A. Catalano of Bellingham, Michael J. Catalano of Wrentham, 3 nieces, Donna M. Tortorella of Sun City Center, FL, Jeanne T. Jackman of Falmouth, Martha A. Catalano of Falmouth, many great & great great nephews and nieces, cousins and her loyal and special friends.
She was the sister of the late Domenica M. “Minnie” Catalano, Carl J. Catalano and Herbert T. Catalano.
Due to Covid-19 and the family’s concern for safety, private services will be held for Emma’s immediate family. Extended family and friends are invited to view Emma’s funeral Mass that will be held on Monday Jan. 25th at 11AM in St. Mary’s Church, Franklin. To view the Mass click stmarysfranklin.org
Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.
A Memorial Mass and Celebration of Emma’s life will be held at a later date.
