Obituary



Worcester – Roderick Rawson, 65, of Worcester, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 in Saint Vincent Hospital after complications of a pneumonia.

Mr. Rawson is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Vivian I. (Chapman) Rawson; a son, Jason Rawson of Worcester; a daughter, Melissa Rawson of Worcester; 2 grandchildren, Summar & Alyssa Rawson; 2 great grandchildren, Amere Rawson and Leelah Bolivar; two brothers, Paul Rawson and his wife, Beth of South Carolina and Ronald Rawson of Worcester; a sister, Royanne Birtz of Florida; a brother-in-law, Henry Fontaine and many nieces and nephews including Brittani & Anthony Beeso of whom Mr. Rawson raised. Mr. Rawson also leaves behind many close friends and extended family; he was especially close with his 7 brothers and sisters-in-law from the Chapman Family.

Rick was born in Worcester, son of the late Roy and Anne M. (Banks) Rawson and is also predeceased by two sisters, Claudia Quinn and Deborah Fontaine.

Mr. Rawson worked for over 18 years at the University Campus of UMass Memorial Medical Center as both a phlebotomist and a certified nurse’s aide. He previously worked as the warehouse manager for the former Building Specialties on Grafton Street in Worcester.

Rick enjoyed collecting baseball cards, but he was the happiest when he was either gardening in his yard or more importantly, spending time with his grandchildren who he adored.
