Louise Rowland Kent, 91, of Tifton passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021, at Cypress Pond Assisted Living in Tifton. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mrs. Kent at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2021, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest. The Rev. Jay Roberson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 24, 2021, at Oak Ridge Cemetery from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of the service. COVID-19 guidelines will be observed during the visitation and the funeral service.
Mrs. Kent’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Born March 27, 1929 in Tifton, Mrs. Kent was the daughter of the late, Ike Rowland and Georgia Pearl Walker Rowland. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Kent, Jr., to whom she was married for 58 years; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Billie and Bill Tucker and Betty and Charles Norris. Before retiring, she was a decorator at the family business, Kent’s Furniture Company. She enjoyed playing bridge; attending garden club meetings and she loved arranging flowers. She also enjoyed entertaining her family and friends and she was a wonderful wife and mother. She was a member of Tifton’s First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Kent is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles “Al” III and Lisa Kent of Tifton and Ike Manning and Renee Kent of Thomasville; one daughter, Georgia Katherine “Kathy” Kent of Tifton; four grandchildren and their spouses, Ike Manning Kent Jr. and his wife, Lindley Cone Kent of Atlanta, Charles Wesley Kent and his wife, Magali Marlowe Kent of Monroe, Christopher Kent Richter and Ryan Rowland Richter, both of Atlanta; and four great-grandchildren, Georgia Lee Kent, Baker Kent, Rex Kent and Harry Kent.
The family would like to express their special thanks to the caregivers at Cypress Pond Assisted Living in Tifton, Becky Jones, Marie Hall, Jacqueline Butler, Joann Hankinson, Michelle Jackson, Carolyn Tucker, Larry Sikes, Brittany Fender, Jennifer Silas, Noviet Orridge, Danielle Barfield, Faye Barnes, Patricia Simmons and Melissa Harper.
