Irene Gail (Rousseau) Macedo of New Bedford, passed away, Wednesday, March 15, 2006. Affectionately known as Gail, she was born on October 18,1941, in Winthrop, Massachusetts, the daughter of Joseph A. and Irene M.(Floyd) Rousseau. She attended New Bedford schools and was a graduate of Lemuel Shattuck Nursing School as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She touched many people's lives while working doing private duty and in hospitals and nursing homes.
Gail was a member of The International Church of The Nazarene where she felt welcomed and ministered to by the entire community. In most recent years Gail would visit her daughter and granddaughters in Maine. She enjoyed being with family and friends, baking for others, music, dancing, talking and laughing! Gail was very grateful for the continued support of her family, friends and health agencies. Her close-knit Cottage Street friends were an infinite source of support and caring for each other.
Gail was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Irene Rousseau. She is survived by and will be fondly be remembered by her daughter, Tammy Macedo of Maine; her brother and his wife, Robert and Janet Rousseau of Mattapoisett; an aunt, Jean Floyd and cousins of Winthrop; a niece, Debbie Novo and her husband Keith of Westport; a nephew, Kevin Rousseau of Jamaica Plain; her grandchildren, Savanna, Mariah and Sierra Arral; and her great nephews, Brandon and Andrew Dubois.
A brief Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford, with commitment to follow at 12 noon in Rural Cemetery.
A celebration of her life and viewing hours will be on Monday< March 20, 2006 from 4-7 PM.
