Gloria Ann Salerno, 89, of Waltham MA died peacefully in her home surrounded by family on January 18, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. Gloria (Zervat) Mouradjian was born in Malden MA on May 27, 1931 to Tateos Mouradjian and Marium (Kevorkian) Mouradjian, both of Armenia. She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-five years, Joseph Salerno, Jr. of Revere MA. She is survived by her children Cynthia A. Salerno of Boston MA, Joseph R. Salerno of York, ME and Robert M. Salerno and his wife Lee of Wellesley, MA. She is also survived by her two grand-daughters Gabriella and Rebecca Salerno of Wellesley, her long-time companion Bogos Peligian of Waltham MA and many nieces and nephews.
Gloria was a loving and generous mother, grandmother, and friend to everyone she met. After graduation from hairdressing school in 1949, she met her husband Joe and had three children. They resided in Medford, Woburn and Cotuit, MA before Joe passed in 1989. While raising three children, Gloria also enjoyed a career at Alpha Industries and spent many vacations on Cape Cod and Florida’s east coast with family and friends. She remained very involved in the Armenian Church, various Masonic Lodge Events and enjoyed her trips to casinos in the New England area with her son Joe. She enjoyed cooking and caring for others, traveling and often-times just being with people, but most of all she appreciated the chance to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She will be forever missed by so many.
Due to restrictions of the Pandemic, services for Gloria will be private and a celebration of her life will be planned for later this year. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her memory to the Grand Masonic Lodge of Massachusetts or Mount Auburn Hospital. The kind men and women of these two organizations provided so much care, comfort and support to Gloria for many years and the family is very grateful for their kindness.
