William Harris Smith, Jr., 75, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at Dorminey Medical Center in Fitzgerald. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Smith at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2021, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. Kenny Kicklighter of Tifton will officiate. COVID-19 guidelines will be observed during the graveside service.
Born February 7, 1945 in Tift County, Mr. Smith was the son of the late William Harris Smith Sr. and Martha Green Smith Cranford. He graduated from Tift County High School in 1964, graduated ABAC and received his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Georgia. Before retiring, he was a sales representative for International Mineral and Chemical. He enjoyed his career with IMC in Georgia and Alabama. He was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. He also served in the Georgia National Guard and he was a member of Brighton Road Baptist Church in Tifton.
Mr. Smith is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Angela Smith of Alexander City, Alabama and Michael and Jamie Smith of Cullman, Alabama; one brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Lucille Smith of Sylvester; the mother of his children, JoAnn Harrison Smith of Tifton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bubba and Cynthia Harrison and Barbara Skinner, all of Tifton; four grandchildren, Erin Smith, Carter Smith, Garrett Smith and Nolan Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to a favorite charity.
