On January 7, 2021, Ervin J. Aucoin, eldest of 13 siblings, passed away at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife, Gloria, his son Joseph, and eight siblings: Eileen, Clifford, Blair, Raylene, Frank, Bernadette, Roger, and Gary.
Ervin was born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia, on May 31, 1938, to Jerome and Marie. He emigrated to the United States in the sixties, shortly after which he met his wife, Gloria. They married on October 25, 1968, and had one son, Joseph, in 1976. They lived briefly in Waltham and Lexington, Massachusetts, before settling down in Woburn.
Over the years, Ervin held many varied jobs, including as a coal miner in Nova Scotia, as a parking attendant in Toronto, at a meat packing plant in Boston, and finally as a custodian for Lexington High School for over 20 years. With his strong work ethic, he was able to provide not only for his immediate family, but also for anyone who needed a hand before they could help themselves. When he wasn’t hard at work, he was reveling in his independence and love of cars—riding his Honda motorcycle from dawn til dusk or watching NASCAR racing.
Throughout Ervin’s full life, he was a kind, loving, and wonderful husband, father, brother, friend, and neighbor. All who knew him loved his generous heart. Ervin will be missed dearly and not soon forgotten.
