Arthur Eugene Buckley, age 82, a long time resident of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester, passed away early Sunday morning January 17, 2021 at Mass General Hospital after a long term illness.

Arthur is survived by his loving wife Christine (Heinen), and their children Franck Buckley and his wife Alison of Bridgewater, Stephen Buckley and his wife Dorothy of Holbrook, Michael Buckley and his wife Ying of West Roxbury, and Stephanie Carson (Buckley) and her husband Kevin of Weymouth. Arthur is also survived by his dear brother Denis Buckley of Weymouth, and dear sister Mary Rooney (Buckley) and her husband Paul of Cohasset. Proud grandfather of Brian and Jenny Buckley of Bridgewater, and Yiran and Cecilia Buckley of West Roxbury, and Uncle to his nephews and niece. He was predeceased by his parents Denis and Katherine (O’Leary) Buckley.

Arthur was born on November 10, 1938 in Dorchester, Massachusetts. He grew up near Codman Square where he had many good friends that lasted a lifetime. In his youth, he worked as a shoeshine boy after he made his own wooden kit, selling newspapers at a major Boston traffic intersection, and a grocery clerk at his neighborhood market. He enjoyed fixing things -especially cars. He bought his first car before he even had his license. He graduated from Brighton High School majoring in the automotive vocation and initially worked as a mechanic before enlisting in the United States Army serving in Europe. He met Christine while stationed in Nancy, France, where they married and had their first child. After an honorable discharge, he returned home with his new family and had three more children. He continued working as an automobile mechanic that led to a career with the Boston Edison Company -first as a truck mechanic, then as an overhead electrical utility lineman and finally as troubleshooter on high voltage wires. He loved his job and was well known for his handiwork and dedication until his retirement after 40+ years of service.

Arthur also loved seeing family & friends, attending his grandchildren's events, and traveling during his retirement. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to family, friends and even strangers, whether it was repairing cars or household renovations. He was a special person and will be dearly missed by his family and all those who knew and loved him.
