Jeanne I. (Lavigne) Borchers, age 90, passed away on Jan. 14, 2021 from Heritage Hall East Nursing Home in Agawam. She was born on July 31, 1930 in Chicopee, a daughter of the late Ernest R. and Lillian E. (Tetreault) Lavigne. Jeanne attended Assumption School and was a graduate of Holy Name High School. She was a communicant of the former Assumption Parish for 75 years before she became a communicant of St Francis of Assis in Belchertown. She was a part-owner of the first Northeast Woods and Waters Sports Paper and was also an office manager of New England OSEG for many years. She worked as a teacher’s aide for Chicopee Public Schools before she retired. Jeanne was a member of the Chicopee Falls Women’s Club since 1996. She was active with the Belchertown Senior Center, an avid Bridge player as well as an active volunteer at the St Francis Tag Sales. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, William D. Borchers, who passed away in 2007; her son William E. Borchers and her sister, Claire Momnie Panda. She is survived by her three daughters, Pamela Cullen and her husband Stephen of Deerfield, Deborah Bozek and her husband Donald of Southampton and Nancy Budd and her husband Robert of Chicopee; one sister, Jacqueline Dubois of Chicopee; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be held in Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Assumption Church on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery. A Memorial Celebration will take place at a future date by her favorite place, “the Lake”.
