Ms. Verna Lee (Nobles) Wilson, lovingly known to family as Bunny, was born on Saturday March 31, 1945 in Boston, MA. She was the eldest child of the late Isabelle Nobles and led Isabelle's pack of four with siblings Dennis Earl, Bradford Wayne and Lynne Anne in tow. Growing up in the neighborhoods of Roxbury and Dorchester, Verna could always be found wrangling together the rest of the family and getting everyone up and dancing to the latest R&B music. As the eldest, she was often found stepping up and helping to cook dinner for the ravaging savages, known as her younger brothers and little sister. Her strong commanding voice often scared everyone straight when her mother was not around but her love was never in doubt.
The once revered Jeremiah E. Burke High School (Dorchester), was where Bunny would attend high school in the early 60s. Her peers referred to her as “friendly”. She participated in activities such as special events club, glee club and also put her height to good use by playing basketball for the school. Thereafter, Bunny went on to attend business school majoring in bookkeeping; which would become her future profession. Bunny was dependable, proud and a very private person. Bunny had remarkable work ethic and skills. She was always noted for her independence and unmatched diligence! Bunny worked for several companies such as Kendall Co., Raytheon and Brookline Housing Authority (retired).
In 1967, she gave birth to her one and only child, Celeste (daughter). Even with the challenge of being a working mother, Bunny still found a way to stay active as an avid bowler (10 Pin & Candlepin); earning countless trophies in her adult life. She was a member of two local bowling teams and played a little softball as well. Needless to say, she was very athletic and in her downtime enjoyed watching bowling, golf, women’s basketball, football (GO PATS) and track-n-field on television.
Of all of Bunny's accomplishments, her devotion to daughter Celeste was the focus of her life’s work. Celeste was the love of her entire life and Bunny would move mountains for her. Her great-grandchild, grandsons, siblings and host of nieces and nephews were her pride and joy. She loved to support others whenever she was able, which was ALWAYS.
Bunny peacefully entered her final rest on Friday, January 15th, 2021 surrounded by love and care. She will be missed by all who knew and adored her.
