BUXTON- Lendell Donald Shores, age 90, passed away Saturday, January
16, 2021 in his home in Buxton.
Lendell was born in Benton, Maine on April 25, 1930 to James
Edward Shores and Florence May German Shores. After
graduating from Lawrence High School, Lendell served in the
U.S. Army for three years. He was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia.
After being discharged with the Good Conduct Medal, Lendell
continued working on his parent’s dairy farm.
In 1957 he married Maxine Brown and continued dairy farming.
Eventually Lendell went on and started his own dairy farm. In
1979 Lendell and Maxine sold the farm and Lendell started
working for SAD6.
Lendell loved sports, especially his New England Patriots, Boston
Red Sox and Boston Celtics teams. He coached little league
baseball for many years and enjoyed attending the Bonny Eagle
High School football and basketball games. Lendell also went to
all of his grandchildren’s games and activities.
In addition to sports, Lendell loved going to the fairs, taking long
scenic car rides, jigsaw and brainteaser puzzles and spending
time with his family and beloved wife, Maxine. He was a member
of FFA, Buxton Center Baptist Church where he was a moderator
and deacon and the Bar Mills Community Church where he was
also a deacon. Being involved in church was a very important
part of Lendell’s life.
Lendell is predeceased by his wife, Maxine, who passed away in
2010 and a son, Mark, who passed away in 1960; brothers
Jimmie, Leland, Doug; sisters Mabel and Irene.
Lendell is survived by his brothers, Wilson Shores and his wife
Martha, Stanley Shores and his wife Esther; his three daughters,
Jane Woodsum and husband Andy, Louise Myers and husband
John and Linda Shores; grandchildren, Erica Simpson, Nicole
Frost, Joshua Myers and Kayla Bouzakine; great grandchildren,
Logan Frost, Carter Simpson, Baylee Frost, Ellie Simpson, Aspen
Bouzakine and Bronsyn Bouzakine.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday Jan. 22 from 6-8 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton.
A Service will be held on Saturday Jan. 23 at 11 AM at the Bar Mills Community Church, 13 Hermit Thrush Dr., Buxton. Burial will be in the spring.
