Nancy Ann (Saulsbury) Barnett passed away peacefully on January 14th, 2021 at the age of 85. She was born on June 23rd, 1935 in Santa Ynez, California. Being the youngest of 7 children, she had fond memories of spending time with her siblings, their spouses and many nieces and nephews. She lived on a farm where she enjoyed her many pets, friends and outdoor adventures, including clamming at Pismo beach and picnics at Nojoqui Falls.
After graduating from Santa Ynez Valley High School, Nancy moved to Santa Barbara, where she attended Santa Barbara Business College. While living there she met her future husband Richard (Dick) Barnett. Six months later, they were married and spent 63 years together. The couple settled in the Ojai Valley in 1959 where they raised their 4 daughters.
Nancy worked as a Preschool teacher, including starting and being the director of the Head Start Program in the Ojai Valley. She worked at Wells Fargo for many years until she retired in 1989.
Nancy was a devoted Christian and very active in the Ojai Presbyterian Church for over 55 years. She was active in the community, volunteered for the Help of Ojai, and the Ojai Museum. She loved and cherished her family. Time spent with family included attending church every Sunday, many picnics, summer ski trips, frequent trips to Santa Ynez to visit family and attending her grandchildren’s many events.
Dick and Nancy enjoyed over 20 years of retirement together, and loved traveling and exploring the world.
She is survived by her four daughters, Linda Barnett, Cindy (Hal) Wilson, Cheri (Andy) Borg, Lori (John) LeSuer. She will be lovingly remembered by her nine grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren who adoringly called her Nana. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Richard (Dick), her parents James and Virginia Saulsbury, her brothers George, Bob, and Jimmy and sisters Peggy, Elizabeth and Charolette.
