SOUTH DEERFIELD – Paul Sokoloski, 64, of South Deerfield, was Called Safely Home on Friday, January 15, 2021 after a heroic six-year battle with cancer. He passed into Eternal Life at home. He was born on December 27, 1956, son of Anthony J. and Jeanne E. (Provencal) Sokoloski. He was raised in South Deerfield where he worked on local farms. Paul graduated from Smith Vocational School in 1975. He worked in local machine shops including Yankee Hill Machine and Hassay Savage. In 1985, Paul started mowing lawns, plowing snow, and growing Christmas trees and mums. Paul continued to grow his business, becoming Sokoloski Landscaping, he manufactured much of his equipment to improve efficiency and production. In the mid-1990s, Paul started snowmobiling again as a way to spend more time in the winter with Adam and Mark. Here Paul found a new place for his passion of building equipment, the Conway Snowmobile Club. Besides donating his time using his construction equipment to improve the trail system, he also designed and built many pieces of grooming equipment to make the trails better. Paul volunteered his time in the Town of Deerfield, where he served for over 25 years on the Conservation Committee. Paul was a life member of the South Deerfield Polish American Citizens Club, serving many years as a director. Paul was a life member of the Conway Snowmobile Club and served many years as the delegate to the Snowmobile Association of Massachusetts. Paul spent as much time as he could on his snowmobile over the last six years with friends and family. Paul always enjoyed the company of dogs, Casey was by his side through it all and he was very happy to meet Adam and Taylor’s puppy Oakley, who he named Gumby. He leaves his beloved wife of 42 years, Deborah (O’Connor) Sokoloski. He also leaves his two devoted sons, Adam Sokoloski and his finacée, Taylor Lively, and Mark Sokoloski; and his dear sister, Diane Loeb and her husband, Ed. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Sokoloski. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 133 Main Street, Greenfield, MA 01301, (please meet directly at the Church). His Burial will follow the Mass at Brookside Cemetery in South Deerfield.
