Melba Peacock Chambers, 83, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, January 15, 2021, at her residence.
Graveside services will be held 4 PM, Sunday, January 17, 2021, at Evergreen Cemetery, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Greg Carroll and the Rev. Jeff Parmer officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the cemetery.
Mrs. Chambers was born September 13, 1937, in Rochelle, Georgia, to the late James & Minnie Lee Johnson Peacock. She lived in the community all of her life and was a CNA at Life Care Center in Fitzgerald for over 32 years. Mrs. Chambers was a member of Crossview Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children: Clifford Chambers, Jr. of Fitzgerald, Ray Beard of Fitzgerald and Lisa & Greg Carroll of Hayesville, North Carolina; grandchildren: Abbie Chambers, Laura Farmer, Will Carroll, Jake Carroll, Jeanelle Beard and Raymond Beard, Jr.; several great-grandchildren and two siblings: Geraldine Griffin and James Wallace Peacock. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Edward Chambers; a son, Gene Beard and a sister, Dorothy Silvers.
