Ventura Harbor has lost one of its best. Jennifer Sweet, who worked and lived aboard her boat, has passed away. Thankfully, she passed without pain or discomfort - brain cancer was the culprit.
Her faithful dog, Boomer, preceded her death by several months. He was close to 15 years old. Their ashes will be joined in a celebration of their lives when it can be safely held.
Jennifer was born in Ohio, a graduate of Ohio State in marketing and forever a Buckeyes fan. She was both beautiful and talented which made her the perfect California girl. Sorry, Ohio!
Her mother, Toni, and Clarence preceded her death. She leaves her sister Jodi, her husband John, and their three children: Adam, Abbey, and Luke, who she was so proud of and spoke of their accomplishments often. She also leaves her sad, but grateful, boyfriend, Steve.
Jennifer loved the lifestyle on the water and was proud of handling her boat from slip to sea. With the help of the power squadron, she learned the necessary skills.
Jan and Debbie Lawson, your contribution to Jennifer's success and safety are much appreciated, as is your love of Boomer.
Jennifer and Boomer were fixtures in the harbor for many years, walking daily in the Village. They would stop at dozens of shops so Boomer could collect his treats and Jen could say a few nice words to those she would meet.
She will always be a special girl with a special dog who would make you smile. Love and peace forever, Jen.
Special thanks to the Heroes at Victoria Care Center and Livingston Memorial Hospice who attended to her every need and mine. Forever in your debt.
Arrangements are under the direction of the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, Ventura.
