Joan died Tuesday at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical in Brockton after a brief illness. Born in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Gerard and Hazel (Carlson) Loveday. She was raised in Brockton and attended Brockton schools. After school Mrs. Mills married her husband Chester of 52 years, 18 years of those years spent as an Air Force wife traveling along side her husband Chester while proudly serving our country. During their time in the Military Mr. and Mrs. Mills started their family and together raised 16 children many of which were born worldwide. Mrs. Mills was a humble and self sacrificing mother, wife and friend. Joan enjoyed gardening and crafts. Her hobby included creating elaborate ginger bread houses with her children at Christmas time and beautiful wedding cakes that she made just for the love of making others happy. She will be remembered and missed for her loving devotion to her family and her kind and caring nature.
