Russell F. Borden, 95, of Westport, absent from the body present with the Lord, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. He was the husband of Marilyn I. (Hollins) Borden.
Mr. Borden was born in Fall River, son of the late Beriah E. and Ethel L. (Smith) Borden and had been a longtime resident of Westport. He was a 1948 graduate of Bristol County Agricultural High School. A veteran of WWII, he served his country in the U.S. Army. He was in the 313th Infantry Division which was part of the Invasion of Normandy and received the Bronze Star for his service. Prior to his retirement in 1993, he worked as foreman and truck driver for Litchman & Son, Fall River. He also worked with his son Dean who owned and operated the former Flower Cart in Westport. He was a member of the Calvary Bible Church, Westport and the Azab Groto Bowling League.
Russell's testimony was as follows: "To be born again means I accepted the Lord as my Savior, Jesus wrapped his loving arms around me and I am going with him."
Survivors along with his wife include his 2 sons: Dean B. Borden of FL and Wayne R. Borden of ME; 2 grandchildren: Kimberly Borden Hendershot and her husband Damon of ME and their daughter Kali and the late Errol W. Borden and his children Andraya and Ayden and their mother Christine Boivin; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was the grandfather of the late Errol W. Borden, great grandfather of the late Drayk Hendershot and brother of the late Edwin S. Borden.
