Gunnar P. Nelson, 91, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, in Marlborough Hills Health Care. He leaves his wife of 66 years, Inga M. (Nelson) Nelson; a son, Roger C. Nelson of Upton; a daughter, Karin M. and her husband Robert Sadowski; 3 grandchildren, Stephen, Tammy, and David; and 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Gunnar was born in Arvika, Varmland, Sweden, son of Axel and Anna (Lundel) Nelson. He was assistant foreman in the abrasive division of Norton Co. for 35 years. He was an Army veteran of WWII, a member of Matthew John Whittall Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Shrewsbury, the Worcester Scottish Rite Bodies, the Melha Temple, and the Greendale Retired Men’s Club. He was an avid fisherman, bowler, and took great pride in his garden and yard.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 18, in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. A calling hour will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11:00. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Upton. It is suggested that flowers be omitted and contributions be made to Wellspring United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 35, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
