SPRINGFIELD – Nicholas M. “Nick” Kazalis, 65, of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, January 10, 2021. He entered into Eternal Life at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Worcester on March 28, 1955, a beloved son of Margaret (Kondi) Kazalis of Longmeadow and the late Michael Nicholas Kazalis who was Called Home on April 11, 2008. At the age of 10, his parents moved to Springfield where he was raised. He graduated from the former Classical High School in Springfield and later attended Worcester State College. His parents, Michael and Margaret, were the longtime owners of the popular Blue Eagle Restaurant on Worthington Street in Springfield. Nick later was the co-owner and operator of the Two Eagles Restaurant on Island Pond Road in Springfield with his brother, Stephen. During his leisure time, Nick enjoyed playing video games and always enjoyed taking his granddaughter, Aleka, fishing. He was a communicant of Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Springfield. Most of all, he loved his family and his many friends. Besides his beloved mother, Margaret, Nick leaves his loving wife, Kyriaki “Keri” (Batsarisakis) Kazalis. They were married at Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Worcester and were blessed with over 38 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving daughters, Margaret “Alexis” Rymer and her husband, Unique, and Nicole S. Kazalis and her partner, Timothy Harwood, all of Springfield; his cherished granddaughter whom he adored, Aleka Rymer; his two dear brothers, James “Jimmy” Kazalis and his partner, Ken, of Huntington and Stephen Kazalis and his wife, Kathy, of Springfield; his dear sister-in-law, Kathy Papalionakis and her husband, Stavros, of Webster; his dear brother-in-law, Steve Batsarisakis and his wife, Christina, of Holden; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended family members. His relatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. which will be followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. His burial will be private, (please note that masks are required, social distancing must be observed and funeral home occupancy is limited due to state regulations).
