Margaret Mitchell, 82, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Pruitt Health of Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 4 PM, Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Prospect Cemetery in Ben Hill County, Georgia, with the Rev. Rob Merritt officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Mitchell was born January 8, 1939, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late Joe Owens & Minnie Griffin Pierce. As a child, Mrs. Mitchell helped her father on the Dairy farm. She was a seamstress for Irwin Manufacturing, a caregiver and a loving mother. Mrs. Mitchell was a member of Eastside Holiness Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children: Sherry Kinnett & Wayne of Fitzgerald, Teresa Foster & Stephen of Fitzgerald and Bryan Eldridge & Amber of Douglas; grandchildren: Sherry Lynn McMorrow & Doug, Marlena Jernigan & Joe, Heather Akins & Paul, Stephanie Crawford, Selena Eldridge, Diana Eldridge and Kaden Eldridge; great-grandchildren: Austin Foster, Taylor Woodard, Hannah Akridge, Abbie Chambers, Brady Rogers, Ella Kate Akins, Dustin McMorrow, Dallas McMorrow, Ashley McMorrow, Emily Jernigan, Joe Jernigan and Brock Jernigan; one great-great-grandson; and two sisters: Peggy Stegall and Betty Gauthreux, both of Fitzgerald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Hartwell Eldridge and her second husband, Henry Mitchell and a son, Randy Hartwell Eldridge.
