Gerald H. “Flop” Fletcher, 69, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Monday, January 11, 2021, at Evergreen Cemetery, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 Sunday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Fletcher was born November 17, 1951, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Joe Doris & Marie Hurt Fletcher. He retired as a supervisor with Gilman Building Products. He was a lifelong Purple Hurricane and an avid fan of all sports. He was an umpire for over 30 years for softball and baseball as well as DLS football. Flop loved fishing and playing golf. He never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was a member of Christian Fellowship. He will be greatly missed by his canine companion, Benji.
He is survived by a daughter, Kim Harrell of Ocilla; a son, Jason Fletcher of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Jordan & Alissa Fletcher, Ryan Fletcher, Sydnee Fletcher, Jackson Harrell, Kyle Paulk, Korey Paulk, and Anna Fletcher; and a great-granddaughter, Kenleigh Paulk. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marsha F. Fletcher on November 29, 2020; and a great-grandson, Gabriel Drake Yancey.
