The world lost another beautiful soul this week due to the disease of addiction.
Jonathan Michael Cote (Jonny) of Melrose, MA passed on Jan 5, 2021 at the age of 33.
Jonathan was born in Dover, NH on July 7, 1987. In 2001 he moved to Mesquite, TX where he attended Poteet High school, maintaining a high GPA. After graduation, Jonathan enrolled in The Art Institute of Dallas, cultivating his love of graphic art which he pursued throughout his adult life.
It was at this time that Jonathan began to experiment with drugs. Over the next decade, Jonathan struggled with addiction. He moved to Boston, MA in 2015 to enter addiction treatment at the urging of his Uncle Dana, who worked in the field of addiction treatment. Jonathan entered the Flowers House on the campus of the Dimock Health Center, after staying at the detox as well on the same campus. Jonathan appeared to thrive in his own recovery as well as that of the Boston recovery community. Armed with his gregarious nature coupled with his kind and gentle approach to all people, he had the uncanny ability to connect with people of all stripes and walks of life and was beloved. People who knew him will remember his easy smile and perfect white teeth. Unfortunately, Jonathan relapsed in his recovery and became a prisoner again of the disease of addiction.
Jonathan leaves behind his father, Raymond Cote of Plano, TX, his mother, Bonnie Ellsmore Cote of Manchester, NH, his favorite "Aunty" Lauri Ellsmore of Somersworth, NH, his uncle and biggest champion, Dana Ellsmore of Boston, MA, his "Meme” Shirley, and Armand Robidas of Dover, NH, Normand and Sally Cote of Dover, NH, Michelle Hinds of Colebrook, NH, as well as several other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will take place in the spring or summer of 2021. People will be notified through social media.
