Obituary

Richard David “Pete” Hatten, 81, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died January 8, 2021, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held 4 PM, Sunday, January 10, 2021, at Evergreen Cemetery, with Pastor Luther Kirby officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mr. Hatten was born January 2, 1940, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Ted & Hulley Ruth Carpenter Hatten. He was a master plumber and owned and operated Hatten Plumbing for over 30 years. Mr. Hatten served in the United States Air Force for 8 years. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Okechobee, playing golf, and playing softball in his younger years. He enjoyed his fellowship with the Tuesday morning group, the “Over the Hill Gang”. Mr. Hatten was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sally Hatten of Fitzgerald; a son, Jon David Hatten of Charleston, South Carolina; a daughter, Dana H. Stanfield of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Hannah (Tyler) Mackey, Jaden Rose Hatten, Eve Marie Hatten and Jon David Hatten, II; a great-grandson, Nash Mackey; and a sister, Janet Padgett of Fitzgerald. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
