William Walter Jenkins, 81, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, passed Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, January 10, 2021, at Evergreen Cemetery, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with Chris Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.
Mr. Jenkins was born September 5, 1939, in Jasper, Alabama, to the late Chelsie & Pearlie Mae South Jenkins. He worked for Gold Kist in Quitman, Georgia and was a police officer in Hahira, Georgia and Quitman, Georgia. He worked at the Cotton Mill in Fitzgerald and retired as a machinist for Modern Fibers. He was a member of the Optimist Club and was very active in his grandson’s ministry, Life Church International.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Louise Smith Jenkins of Fitzgerald; two daughters: Susan (Chris) Hughes of Fitzgerald and Charlotte Griffin of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Pastor Kenneth “Kenny” Griffin, Jr, Ginger (Wesley) Hart, Adam (Anna) McCord and Garrett McCord and great-grandchildren: Reed Watson, Rhett Hart, Ray Allen Hart and Atlas McCord; a sister, Rachel Fields of Fitzgerald and a brother, Spencer Jenkins of Fayette, Alabama. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, David Gregory Jenkins; a son, Scottie Jenkins; a sister, Ola Mae Gilreath and a brother, Waymon Jenkins.
