Sylvia Marie Smith, 67, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, January 10, 2021, at Evergreen Cemetery, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with Brother Bobby Cobb officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born March 21, 1953, in Macon, Georgia, to the late Nolan & Bertha Dover Shaddix. She graduated High School in Jacksonville, Florida. Mrs. Smith worked for Modern Fibers and operated Sylvia’s Wee Daycare for over 30 years. She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, taking trips with her sisters and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Smith was a member of Arbor Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, was a member of the Gleanors Sunday School class, taught GA’s and Mission Friends.
She is survived by her two daughters: Cheryl Smith Tucker & Newt of Ocilla and Catherine Leigh Smith of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Gracie Tucker, J.T. Tucker, Deanna Smith, Jeffery Smith and Nola Smith; siblings and their spouses: Ellen Patricia Robinson of Fitzgerald, Nancy Jean Weaver & Michael of Canton, Deborah Lynn Smith of Alapaha, Nonie Cobb & Bobby of Fitzgerald, Henry “Chip” Shaddix & Frances of Fitzgerald, Sandra Denise Evans & Opie of Moultrie and Pamela Jane Chaney & Walter of Fitzgerald. Many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Bill Smith.
