Thomas John “Tom” Brescia, 72, passed away peacefully at his home in Lynnfield on January 7, 2021.
Born the youngest of four children to the late Lawrence J. “Joe” Brescia and Anna M. (Puleo) Brescia, Tom was raised in Malden and attended Malden schools. Thereafter, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, before serving three years in the U.S. Army. After his discharge, he returned to Suffolk University to earn a Master’s Degree in Business. Tom was employed by the Prudential and Liberty Mutual Insurance Companies where he utilized his considerable writing skill as a technical writer, videographer, and photographer, writing, creating and designing advertising print and video material.
He was predeceased by his parents, and siblings, Gloria M. Cafarella, of Malden and Lawrence J. Brescia, Jr., of Juno Beach, Florida. Tom is survived by daughters, Kristen (Brescia) Kingsley, and husband Sean Kingsley, of Lynnfield, and Sara Brescia and husband, Matson O’Real, of Sea Island,
Georgia. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Roman Kingsley and Hunter Kingsley, and by Joan McNally and James McNally, of Sea Island, Georgia, brother, Attorney James A. Brescia, of Reading, nephews Thomas Cafarella, of Tewksbury, and David Cafarella, of Taunton, and niece, Janice Crossen of Peabody.
Tom Brescia was known as incredibly smart, creative, and compassionate. He was a talented writer, photographer, videographer, creator and singer. He enjoyed nothing more in life than time with his daughters. His goofy and childlike sense of humor belied his vast knowledge of history, art, science and literature which made him the perennial winner of family holiday games. He will forever be remembered for his compassion, kindness, intelligence and humor.
A visitation and memorial gathering will be held from the A.J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Saturday, January 9th from 3-5pm in compliance with mask and distance protocols established due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
