SPENCER; Evelyn E. (Eselhorst) Fowler, a longtime resident of Spencer, MA, who recently resided in Charlton, MA, died peacefully January 5, 2021.
She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years Dr. Richard L. Fowler. She was also predeceased by her brother Albert R. Eselhorst of Lawrenceville, GA and her sister Betty J. Hennegan of Cherry Hill, NJ.
She leaves a son, Richard L. and his wife Marilyn of Concord, CA, a daughter, Robin Rochette and her husband Francis of Spencer, and two grandchildren, Jonathan Rochette and Gianna Rochette Chambers and her husband Wesley.
She was born in Baltimore MD, daughter of Albert R. and Anna Mae (Fischer) Eselhorst. She graduated from the University Of Maryland School Of Nursing in 1943.
For many years, she was a volunteer at Hahnemann Hospital in Worcester and the Red Cross Blood Bank. She was a soprano soloist of the First Congregational Church of Spencer. She also held several positions in the church and was the first woman to be the church Moderator.
Evelyn was on the Board of Trustees of Hahnemann Hospital and Abby’s House in Worcester. She served on the Executive Board of the Spencer District Nurse for many years and was also the Past President of that organization. She was Past Matron of the Spencer chapter of the Eastern Star and a Past Worthy Grand Matron.
Evelyn was a long time member of the Worcester County Light Opera Club and appeared in many of their productions. She was a former member of Tatnuck Country Club.
