Obituary

Lillian A. (Raposa) Gracia, 85, of New Bedford died Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth after a brief illness.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Antone and Evelyn (Ponte) Raposa, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.

Lillian was a 1953 Holy Family High School graduate, and was employed by the Hemingway Trucking Company of New Bedford, until the birth of her son in 1965. She reentered the workforce in 1977, where she worked for First Federal Savings (now Webster Bank) until her retirement in 2000.

Up until her illness, Lillian lived an active lifestyle and enjoyed line dancing, playing games on her computer, and spending time with her family and her many friends. She was also active in the New Bedford Lioness Club.

She was known as a loving mother, grandmother and daughter, who took her mother in during her later years.

Lillian was a devout Catholic and was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church in Dartmouth. She enjoyed going to daily Mass and watching EWTN and listening to Catholic podcasts on her computer.

Survivors include her son, Paul Gracia, and his wife, Patricia, of Tiverton, R.I.; and three grandchildren, Robert A. Gracia, Sarah E. Gracia, and Matthew J. Gracia, all of Tiverton.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 11 AM at St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth, with everyone meeting directly at Church. A private burial will be held at a later date.
