Worcester – Urbano C. Araujo, age 86, of New Bedford, passed away on January 5, 2021 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester. He was the beloved husband of the late Maria (Calheta) Araujo.
Urbano was born in St. Michael, Azores to the late Francisco Ambrozo Araujo and Maria Estrella (Correia) Araujo. He had worked as a landscaper for many years. He loved to watch soccer in his younger days and also loved fishing and working in his garden.
Urbano’s survivors include his 4 children, Manny Araujo and his wife Inez, Theresa Brum and her husband Antonio, Helen Letourneau and her husband Steven and Maggie Hinchcliffe and her husband David; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Jaime Araujo; sister, Eduarda; as well as several nieces and a nephew.
He was also the father of the late Mario Araujo.
Urbano’s visiting hours will be held on Friday evening, January 8, 2021 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. His funeral will be held Saturday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
All attendees are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering at all times, to social distance 6 feet and to please refrain from any close physical contact. Attendance in the funeral home will be limited in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions and could result with a wait time outside of the funeral home.
