FALL RIVER – Fernanda (Lopes) DeSousa, age 87 of Fall River, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021 at Sarah Brayton Nursing Care Center. Born in Sao Roque, Sao Miguel, Acores, Fernanda was the daughter of the late Floriano & Jacinta Lopes and the beloved wife of the late Leonildo DeSousa.
Prior to retiring, Fernanda worked as a Housekeeper for a local Nursing Home and was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church. She was an avid Benfica Soccer fan, loved listening to Portuguese music, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her four children: Isabel Pavao (husband Mario), Joao Sousa (wife Judith), Fernanda DeSousa (husband Owen), and Leonildo Sousa (girlfriend Kimberly); seven grandchildren: Tara Pavao Turner (husband Tyronne), Kelly Pavao, Nicole, Nathan, Noah, Nicholas, &Nevan Sousa; two great grandchildren: Maxwell & Gianna Turner; several nieces & nephews. Fernanda was predeceased by several brothers & sisters.
Fernanda’s funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Monday, Jan. 11th with a Visitation from 8:30-10:30 A.M., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. in St. Michael’s Church. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
