Obituary

Steve Harper, 60, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, went to be with Jesus, Monday, January 4, 2021, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia.

Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Brushy Creek Cemetery in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Rev. John Gibbs, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the cemetery.

Mr. Harper was born August 12, 1960, in Irwin County, Georgia to Aubrey LaRue Harper of Ocilla, Georgia and the late Carolyn Ernestine Harper. He was a 1978 graduate of Irwin County High School and grew up working on the family farm. Mr. Harper worked at Coachmen and he was a forklift driver in shipping and receiving for ADAMA. He enjoyed fishing with his girls, hunting with his friends, watching the Flintstones and the Andy Griffith show. He loved his work family and his friends. In his younger years he enjoyed water skiing. Mr. Harper was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Irwin County.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Lorrie Harper of Fitzgerald; daughters: Crista Harper Clements & Ashley of Chelsea, Alabama, Carlee Harper Alexander & Bailey of Ocilla, Chelsea Rubio Parkey & Steven of Vidalia, Logan Rubio of Fitzgerald and Madison Rubio of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Cade Clements, Kinley Clements, Jason Ellis, Emeri Neal and Emonii Neal; his father Aubrey LaRue Harper of Ocilla and two sisters: Linette Harper of Ocilla and Jan & Gary Collins of Leesburg. Several nieces and nephews also survive as well as the mother of his children, Tammie Givens Harper of Ocilla. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Ernestine Harper.

Due to COVID-19, all guests and attendees are requested to wear appropriate medical grade face-masks and to maintain social distancing at all times.
