Evelyn R. (Paula) Coggans, 96, of Worcester died Sunday, January 3rd in the Jewish Health Care Center. Her husband of 49 years, Joseph F. Coggans died in 2004. She leaves a son, Howard Bryte and his wife, Elizabeth of Dedham; a brother, Arthur Paula and his wife, Barbara of Campton, NH; a sister, Geraldine Hicks of Sutton; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Florence McKinnon and Gertrude Anderson.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Arthur and Florence (Latendress) Paula and graduated from the former High School of Commerce. She was a devout member of Our Lady of the Angels Church. Evelyn worked as a CNA at the Washburn House and previously worked at Western Auto Supply for 19 years as a manager. She was an avid fan of the Patriots and enjoyed playing card and bingo with friends and family.
Her funeral is Thursday, January 7th with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Social Distancing and the use of face masks that cover the nose and mouth will be part of the protocol at all of Evelyn’s services.
