New Bedford – Maria A. (Anjos Pacheco) Barbosa, age 81, of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Joao Barbosa.
Maria was born in St. Michael, Azores to the late Joaquim Tavares Afonso and Maria Dos Anjos Pacheco. She had been a loving homemaker to her family over the years.
She is survived by her 2 children, John Barbosa and Diane Ferreira and her husband George Ferreira; her 5 grandchildren, Mat Barbosa, Sean Barbosa, Monique Ferreira, Lindsey Ferreira and Kelsey Ferreira; brother, Jose Maria Pacheco Afonso and his wife Fatima; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Maria’s visiting hours will be held on Wednesday evening, January 6, 2021 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will be Thursday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
All attendees are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering at all times, to social distance 6 feet and to please refrain from any close physical contact. Attendance in the funeral home will be limited in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions and could result with a wait time outside of the funeral home.
