Obituary

CHICOPEE ~ Louise J. (Cote) Champagne, 81, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, January 3, 2021. She was born in Sanford, Maine on November 17, 1939, a daughter of the late Emile N. and Lucille (Melanfant) Cote. She was employed for many years with the Chicopee School Department as a lunch lady and later as a crossing guard. Louise was an accomplished singer, guitarist and keyboard player. She and her late husband, Bernie, started their own band, “Champagne Country” and were sought out and played at many different venues. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard O. “Bernie” Champagne who was Called Home on March 6, 2019. She leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Rachel C. Dupuis and her husband, Brian, of Chicopee; her grandchildren, Nathaniel Dupuis and his wife, Amy, Amanda Mucha and her husband, Brian, Rebecca Pereira and her husband, Timothy and Katelyn Henderson and her husband, Scott; her great-grandchildren, Samuel and Annabeth Dupuis and Lucille and Keith Mucha; her brothers and sisters, Robert Cote and his wife, Gail, Gerry Cote and his wife, Wanda, Julie Malo and her husband, Edward, and Margaret Cote; and her many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2021 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 7:45 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Committal Service will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
