Matilda (Duarte) Perry, 60, of Stone Mountain, Georgia, formerly of New Bedford died Sunday March 12, 2006 at home after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John G. and Matilda (Pina) Duarte, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life before moving to Georgia several months ago.
Survivors include five sons, Stephen Perry of Dartmouth, Shawn Perry of New Bedford, Scott Perry of Stone Mountain, Robert Moseley of Atlanta, and Wayne Gonsalves of Massachusetts; two brothers, John Duarte of Dartmouth and Robert Duarte of New Bedford; five sisters, Edith Costa of Freetown, Alice Harris of Boston, Bernice Duarte of Cambridge, Marie Lopes of Oakland, Calif., and Eleanor Vandiver of New Bedford; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Baby Scott Perry, and sister of the late Barbara Pires, William Delgado, Joaquim Duarte, Dorothy Woodland, Pauline Watkins, Mary "Maisie" Oliver, Joseph Duarte and Dominga Soares.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday March 18, 2006 at 9 AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, on Friday March 17, 2006 from 4-8 PM.
