Worcester – Maria C. (Bautista) Montenegro, 72, of Worcester, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 in UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus after a brief illness.
Maria was married for 49 years to the late Manuel L. Montenegro who died in 2018. She is survived by her son, Victor Orantes and his wife, Elvira of Charlton, MA; two daughters, Mildred Pintor and her husband, Miguel Angel of Worcester, MA and Gladys Howarth of Worcester, MA; a brother, Miguel Angel Bautista of Guatemala; two sisters, Anna Maria Colindres of Guatemala and Maria Del Carmen of Guatemala; 7 grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Montenegro was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala, daughter of the late Alberto Bautista Sazo and Adela Colindres Amaya. She is also predeceased by a son, Freddy Orantes.
Maria was a faith filled person who consistently put the needs of her family above her own. She was always the happiest when she was able to have all of her family together for one of her home cooked meals. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Calling hours for Maria will be held on Tuesday, January 5th from 6 to 8 PM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester. Burial will take place on Thursday, January 7th at 11 AM in Notre Dame Cemetery 162 Webster Street Worcester.
