Obituary

Franklin “Buddy” Brogdon, 77, of Omega passed away peacefully at home on January 1, 2021, surrounded by all of his loved ones. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Leila United Methodist Church in Omega with the Rev. Eric Tyson officiating. A eulogy will be given by his granddaughter, Rebecca Jinright. Buddy will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Leila United Methodist Church in Omega from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service. COVID-19 protocol will be observed.

Buddy’s grandsons, Dayton Jinright, Trent Johnson, Parker Carrigan, Hunter Taylor, Stuart Ashley Taylor and close friend, Travis Hobby will serve as pallbearers.

Born on June 15, 1943 in Omega, he was the son of the late Nancy Elizabeth and W. F. Brogdon. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Hayes Brogdon. After graduating high school from Norman Park High, he attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and later enlisted into the National Guard. Buddy and Bobby Powell were the founders of Omega Farm Supply and the Omega Cotton Gin, along with co-owner of the Lenox Cotton Gin. He was on the Board of Directors for Chickasha Oil Mill for many years. As a career, Buddy was a farmer. He later decided with his son-in-law, Chuck Jinright, that they wanted to create a business called Pineridge Angus Farm, where it later grew to become the largest AI production in the east. Buddy was the most wonderful Papa, who spent every moment he could with his grandchildren. Set a goal; reach it; set another goal was his motto. He was a member of Leila United Methodist Church in Omega.

Buddy is survived by his wife, Eileen Tyson Brogdon of Omega; his children and their spouses, Libby and Chuck Jinright, Lisa and Richard Martinez and Tammy Walker; his grandchildren, Rebecca Jinright (Parker), Mattie Jinright (Trent), Dayton Jinright, Halle Walker, Chris Mullins (Mary Fountain), Stuart Ashley Taylor and Hunter Taylor; two sisters, Jean Anderson and Frances Whiddon; his service dogs, Archie Brogdon and Millie Brogdon; and his grandpups, Sophie Jinright, Pearl Jinright and Gunner Fountain. Buddy also had special friends that he thought so much of, Angela Fountain, Lavern Yawn and Tom and Charlene Knight of Port St. Joe, Florida.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to Colquitt Regional Hospice, 415 Rowland Drive, Moultrie, GA 31768; of the American Cancer Society, Tifton Unit, P. O. Box 385, Tifton, GA 31793.
