McNEIL, Mary Joan of West Roxbury passed away peacefully on December 31, 2020, at the age of 85. She was the beloved daughter of the late Hugh and Rose (MacFarlane) McNeil. Dear sister of the late James McNeil and his wife Eileen, Barbara McNeil and Hugh McNeil and his wife Leonie. Loving aunt of Kathryn and Susan McNeil of Mansfield; William McNeil and his wife Corina of Buzzards Bay; Christine Purkis and her husband Arthur of Otisfield, Maine; Laura Wiessmeyer and her husband Edward of Weymouth and Kathleen Coughlin and her husband John of Whitman. Also survived by many loving great-nieces and nephews and one great-great niece. Mary was a proud lifelong Bostonian. She was a graduate of Holy Trinity High School in Roxbury. After graduation she began working at John Hancock where she retired after many years of service as a Human Resources Administrator. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visitation in the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, WEST ROXBURY on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (Please follow all COVID-19 guidelines including use of facial coverings and social distancing). A private mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Theresa of Avila Church at 11 o’clock. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
