John M. Pinto, 74, of New Bedford died Tuesday, December 29, 2020 unexpectedly at home.
Born in Nantucket, son of the late Eugene and Gertrude (Lopes) Pinto, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Mr. Pinto was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
He was a graduate of New Bedford High School, where he was a member of the football team.
Mr. Pinto honorably served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of the Bisca Tournament Club.
Mr. Pinto was an entrepreneur and a role model and confidante to many.
Survivors include seven daughters, Stacey Pinto Nelson, Jennifer Pinto, and Alicia Pinto, all of Florida, and Shannon Pinto, Brianna Pinto, Tamia Pinto, and Constancia Pinto, all of New Bedford; his aunt, Alice DeCruz of New Bedford; his brother, Eugene Pinto of New Bedford; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Stephen and Caesar Pinto.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 4-6 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Due to COVID-19 capacity restrictions, his funeral service and burial will be held privately. For online guestbook, visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
