Etta Mae Phillips Collins, 91, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Tifton Health and Rehabilitation. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2021, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Lee Collins and the Rev. Richard Collins officiating. Mrs. Collins will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 2, 2021, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service. COVID-19 protocol will be followed during the visitation and the funeral service.
Allen Collins, Will Collins, Michael Collins, Nicky Brinkley and Bradley Thompson will serve as pallbearers.
Born March 16, 1929 in Fitzgerald, Mrs. Collins was the daughter of the late Harvey Phillips and Lillie Mae Pruitt Phillips. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Harvey Lee Collins; three brothers, Homer Phillips, Tommy Phillips and James Phillips; two sisters, Jeannette Stone and Dorothy Veal; and a daughter-in-law, Sandra Pitts Collins. She was a homemaker but had previously worked as a bookkeeper for the family business. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a gentle soul who loved to watch westerns and sports.
Mrs. Collins is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Harvey Jr. and Debbie Collins of Tifton and Mike Collins Sr. of Clayton, North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Annette Dove of Ocilla; four grandchildren and their spouses, the Rev. Lee and April Collins of Statesboro, Rev. Richard and Tanya Collins of Sylvester, Michael Jr. and Millie Collins of Pelham and Beckie Collins and Michelle Collins, both of North Carolina; five great-grandchildren and their spouses, Ashlyn and Bradley Thompson of Brookhaven, Karli Collins and Will Collins, both of Statesboro, McKenzie Collins and Leigha Collins, both of Sylvester and Caleb Shadmani and Traci Michelle and Cody Lambdin, all of North Carolina; two great-great grandchildren, Cadence Lambdin and Archer Lambdin, both of North Carolina; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
