Sherry Ann Mallasch, 70, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, December 26, 2020 in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Christian Fellowship in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Rex Johnson, the Rev. Earl Perry, and the Rev. Jeremy Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Old Valley Grove Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary on Thursday.
Mrs. Mallasch was born March 4, 1950, in Coral Gables, Florida to the late Buster & Pearl Jordan McGee. She graduated from high school in Belle Glade, Florida in 1968. She served a millwright apprenticeship at Ben Hill-Irwin Tech and worked for Delco Remy in Fitzgerald, being the first woman in maintenance. She transferred to the Corvette plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky and worked in machine repair. She enjoyed canning and fishing. She loved cooking for her family and their friends. She was a member of Christian Fellowship in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
She is survived by her husband, Ken Mallasch of Bowling Green, Kentucky; children: Brian Powell of Morgantown, Kentucky, Tracy McKie & Paul of Fitzgerald, LeeAnn Berryhill & Mike of Fitzgerald and Ashley Hope & Curt Barnes of Fitzgerald; special daughter, Redelia Paulk of Irwin County; grandchildren: Brooke Camus & Michael, Jeremiah Powell, Elijah Powell, Payton McKie, Ethan McKie and Alyssa McKie; 11 great-grandchildren and a sister, Linda Van Auken of St. Augustine, Florida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Rowan Young and a brother, Larry McGee.
