Carlton L. Whitley, 92, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Brushy Creek Cemetery in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Rev. Rex Johnson and Brother Joey Veal officiating. Kenny Whitley will deliver the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home in Ocilla, Georgia.
Mr. Whitley was born June 2, 1928, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Albert & Myrtice Paulk Whitley. He lived in the community all of his life. Mr. Whitley worked for Tri County Gas for over 30 years and later for Luke Propane and Tankersley Oil. He was a life member of the American Quarter Horse Association and a founding member of the International Boer Goat Association. Mr. Whitley enjoyed fish fries and spending time with his family. He was a member of Mystic Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 66 ½ years, Joann G. Whitley of Ocilla; two sons: Stanley & Brenda Whitley of Ocilla and Joey & Zema Whitley of Ocilla; grandchildren: Chris Whitley & Stephanie Goddard, Al & Amanda Whitley, Kenny & Jenny Whitley and Jason Parks; great-grandchildren: Brandon, Emily, Marlee, Payton, Allie, Will, Colton and another great-grandson, Clayton, on the way; and a brother, Billy Whitley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Marvin Whitley and Bobby Whitley and a sister, Dorothy Whitley Lott.
