Elaine M. (Baker) Barmer, 83, of New Bedford passed away Sunday December 20, 2020 after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Edward A. and Estelle (Duclos) Baker, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
Elaine was formerly employed as a production supervisor at Titleist for 29 years until her retirement.
She served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956-1959.
In her younger years, she loved to travel. She enjoyed gardening and spending time on the ocean. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She had also been a volunteer at the Caroline Street Apartments Senior Center.
She is survived by her children, Sherie Barmer of Dartmouth and Mark Barmer and his wife Brenda of Colorado; her brother, Allen Baker and his wife Juliette of Lakeville; her grandchildren, Steven Garnett and his wife Ashley, Joshua Barmer and his wife Tara, Kimberly Daly and her husband Daniel, and Mathew Barmer; her great-grandchildren, Devyn Garnett, Xavier Leon-Guerrero, Kaydence Barmer, Gracie Daly, Brayden Daly, Savanna Garnett, Trinity Garnett, and Tyler Garnett; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Stephanie Garnett, her great-grandson, Masyn Blaheen, and her siblings, Edward Baker III and Claire Borges.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday April 21, 2021 at 11 AM at St. Lawrence Church, 565 County St., New Bedford. Burial with military honors will follow at 1 PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Ft. Taber/Ft.
