Traporn Tramam Chan, 87 of Lowell, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Westford House Nursing Home. She was the widow of the late Phan Chan who passed away in 1983.
She was born in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on July 5, 1933 and was a daughter of the late Tramam and the late Poe Phut. She graduated with certifications to be a teacher, but decided to take over the family business instead.
She worked in Cambodia in Money lending for many years before she fled to the United States in 1981 with her family, originally settling in East Boston/Revere for a few years, then relocated to Bridgeport, CT, before settling in Methuen, and eventually in Lowell. She enjoyed crocheting, and in her younger days, she taught women in the refugee camp to how to work looms. She was a talented seamstress, and often made clothes for her children and for charities.
Traporn is survived by her five children, Sina So and her husband, Daniel of Newton, NH, Vannary Chan of Lowell, Vannarith Chan and his wife, Apinya of Lowell, Bunthan Chan of Lowell, and Poe Anis and her husband, Sherif of Abu Dhabi. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late Vithu Chan, Nithy Chan, Kurun Chan, Sotha Chan, Kong Chan, Sothy Chan, Sophanny Chan.

UNTIL 12 NOON ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 30, 2020, AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL, MA 01852, 978-458-6816. FOLLOWING THE VISITATION, HIS FAMILY WILL PROCEED TO THE WESTLAWN II CEMETERY FOR HER FUNERAL SERVICE.
