Milton Huggins, 90, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, December 26, 2020, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Steve Hand officiating. The family will gather at the funeral home at 1 PM on Saturday for a family viewing.
Mr. Huggins was born March 21, 1930, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Valentine Webster (V.W.) & Eva Core Huggins. He lived in Jesup for a few years during his childhood and moved back to Fitzgerald in 1944. He was a 1948 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. Milton was a very loving, humble man who loved to spend time with his family and to serve others. He was a former owner of Huggins Dairy with his brother, Dwight Huggins, and mother, Eva Huggins. He enjoyed running the milk route and getting to know so many people. He was affectionately called “the milkman”. After retiring, he worked part-time for Colony Bank Corp. He enjoyed working there until his recent illness. The employees there were very special to him. Milton was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church where he was currently serving as a deacon and treasurer. He had served in many capacities over the years always willing to do whatever was needed. He loved the Lord and his church family very much. In addition to serving the Lord at church, he also helped spread the Gospel by serving as a Gideon for several years. Milton was also a member of the Ben Hill Co. Farm Bureau for many years, serving as local president for the past 41 years.
He is survived by his children and their spouses: Bob & Tammy Huggins and Patrick Huggins of Fitzgerald, and Darrell & Jan Dixon of Blackshear; grandchildren and their spouses: Laura & Kent Burgess, Emily & Jason Burrell, William & Karli Dixon, Chris Dixon, Lakelyn Huggins & Matthew Hickman, and Wyatt Huggins; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Dwight Huggins of Fitzgerald; and a sister, Lottie Stokes of Kingsland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Cleghorn Huggins.
