John J. “Bud” Collins of Somerville passed away suddenly on December 19th. He was 90 years old. John was the beloved husband of the late Carole M. (Leahy) Collins. Born in South Boston, he was the son of the late Cornelius and Margaret (Mahoney) Collins.
John was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955. Prior to his retirement, John was the Senior Vice President of Information Systems for the former Boston Gas Company, where he worked for over 35 years. He was a member of the “Gas House Gang”, a group of former employees from the Boston Gas Company.
John was the devoted father of John J. Collins Jr. and his wife Linda of North Attleboro, Lisa M. Poirier and her husband Paul Lindmark of Lynnfield and Rita- Marie Auble and her husband Michael of Burlington. Adored grandfather of Jessica Marie Poirier, William Arthur Poirier II, Shannon Collins, Megan Collins and Zachary Auble. John was the dear brother of Jeremiah “Jerry” Collins and his wife Irene “Renee” of Abington, the late Cornelius “Franny” Collins and his late wife Mary, the late Thomas “Tom” Collins and his surviving wife Ruth of Dorchester, and the late Edward “Ed” Collins and his late wife Silvia. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. John will be remembered dearly by the Keough Family of Weymouth.
At the request of the family, funeral services will be private.
